- 1 ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 heaping Tbsp “Everything Nice Baking Spice” (more or less if desired)
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup shortening or margarine
- ⅓ cup fancy molasses
- ⅓ cup blackstrap molasses
Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C. Combine dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream shortening or margarine. Add molasses, beating well. Gradually add dry ingredients. Chill dough 1 hour. Roll out dough to ⅛ inch thickness (or thicker, but watch baking time). Cut with cookie cutter shapes. Bake on a parchment paper lined sheet or lightly greased cookie sheet for 5 - 7 minutes. Let cool before decorating.
