These sauces hail from Toronto and are handmade in small batches by Chef Carlos Flores, a Mexican-born Canadian, following his mom's recipe. They are all gluten-free, low-sodium, vegan, and free of artificial preservatives. Their thinner consistency makes them perfect for adding to marinades, salsa, guacamole, salad dressings, and soups.
No. 7 Jalapeño - Hot Sauce-of-the-Month / May 2014
Jalapeño is a blend of jalapeños, tomatillos, onions, garlic, and apple cider vinegar, with cauliflower as an all-natural thickener. A hint of black pepper, cloves, oregano, and bay leaf, give this sauce a unique flavour that is very food-friendly. Its bright, fresh flavour compliments seafood, chicken, fish tacos, and vegetarian chili.
No. 7 Habanero - Hot-Sauce-of-the-Month / October 2013
This sauce uses the same base as the jalapeño sauce, but the fresh habaneros kick up the heat level and add their signature hint of apricots. After the herbs and spices are added, iit all sits in apple cider vinegar for a minimum of 2 days to naturally preserve the hot sauce. Use it anywhere you like an extra kick.
No. 7 Garlic punches up the Habanero sauce with bright, fresh garlic! Perfect for seafood, grilled veggies, soups, and chili.
No. 7 Habanero Extra Hot - Hot-Sauce-of-the-Month / September 2015
Same great flavour base as the regular Habanero but kicked up a couple of notches with exxxtra Habaneros!
Carlos also makes a terrific barbecue sauce with Mexican pasilla peppers for a roasted richness.
