Barbecue Hot Spots

A great way to test for hot spots on your barbecue (they all have 'em) is to heat up your grill and cover the surface with refrigerated biscuit dough, or even plain while bread. Wait a few minutes until they start to brown and turn them all over quickly. The ones that are darker indicate where the hot spots are. Take a picture for future reference.
